Audition

Recently I was asked to dance with a group friends from the various dance classes I go to. Turns out we were going to audition for a new dance competition show. We learned the combo the morning of the audition and went straight into it.

We didn't do our best but it seemed that they liked us a lot. We'll see what happens. We named ourselves the Oriyentas because the group is made up of Asians and Jews. haha.

I've started to take dance classes at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood and I'm loving it. I'm hoping to start taking other classes. Below are a couple videos from the hip hop class I take.

Beyonce's Single Ladies music video was inspired by Fosse. However I think her Get Me Bodied video may have been inspired by Fosse. Well at least the styling. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I LOVE this commercial for T-Mobile from the UK. Commercials from other countries seem to be better than ones here.

New Year

Rather than singing Auld Lang Syne when midnight hit we danced the Cupid Shuffle. Shall a new tradition start? We will have to wait until 2010 to see.

Girl Can Dance!

I was sent this video randomly and this girl CAN dance. I wish I could move like her when I was her age. Heck I wish I could move like her now.

Dance! Dance! - The Todo, Todo.

When going to a Filipino family party - dancing and karoake is a favorite past time. What is interesting is the dancing part. Not sure how line dancing became so big amongst the Filipinos but I am surprised at how many line dances there are to songs that you may already know. We all know the electride slide probably started it all but second to that the Todo Todo is a widely popular selection. Anytime you are at any Filipino gathering you are sure to hear and see the Todo Todo. Below is the music video and after that is a bunch of Filipino Moms, Dads, Nanays, Tatays, Apongs, Lolos and Lolas doing it.

I've done it a couple times but I still need to learn the steps to get them down. Who wants to practice with me? haha

Philippines Takes the Title Back

The Hip Hop World Championships were held in Las Vegas this year and the Philippines All-Stars took Gold, Eclectik from Trinidad & Tobago took silver and Kaba Modern from the U.S. took Bronze. Congratulations! Holla!
